After Graduate school, McIlvaine worked briefly for the grisly Fox television show "Trauma Center," logging video of emergency room horrors on the swing shift. This nocturnal life led to these two paintings, late night red and blue, featuring acrylic and collage on paper. Click for larger views:

During this time McIlvaine also did a series of paintings of Whoppers, inspired by the great food painter Wayne Theibaud. This is a later, darker example

Bellow are a pair of acrylic on photocopy paintings inspired by the film, "Lust for Life," which starred Kirk Douglas as Vincent Van Gogh and Anthony Quinn as Gaugin.
